This bulletin presents the most up-to-date information at the time of publication (August 2006) on various aspects of smoking in England, drawn together from a variety of sources. Subjects include: smoking prevalence, smoking in pregnancy, behaviour and attitudes towards smoking, economic costs associated with tobacco.

Chapter 8 of this report covers smoking trends in Britain including prevalence and consumption by age, socio-economic group, etc as well as attitudes to smoking and quitting.

23 November 2005: summary of the link between smoking and health inequalities with facts, charts and statistics that show that tobacco dependence is truly a disease of the poor.
